1916-I Calcutta Mint KGV Specimen Penny – PCGS SP 64Item code: HC-3
The 1916 Calcutta specimen penny has long been a considered sleeper from the KGV pre decimal proof series. With an understood mintage of only 3 example (most likely for archival purposes) the market value in curiously low when considered with specimen or proof strikes from the other Australian used mints of the KVG era. The example which is one of the highlights from the famed Fenton collection has all the attributes one would expect from an Australian penny struck from the Calcutta Mint. Exceptionally sharp detail through out the strike and a deep fiery red patina are the first features that catch the eye.
